My Father's Daughter Starring Maurice Benard Narrated by Victoria Gotti

Maurice Benard

My Father's Daughter

I must say, growing up Italian in a very strict household much like Victoria Gotti this movie moved me in a way that I cannot put into words. So much of what Victoria said about her father and her relationship with him was very much like my own.

Having said that, I've been a fan of General Hospital and Maurice Benard AKA Sonny Corinthos the main protagonist and fictional character on ABC's soap opera since 1977. It has almost been a tradition in my home every day after school I would run home and watch it with my mother along with after school snack. Not much has change throughout the years as an adult I would run home to my mother and we have coffee and biscotti's and watch GH.

It was at that time August 13, 1993 that the character of Sonny Corinthos was introduced to GH. I was in love with him, his hair, his suits and his protective personality of those he loved. He changed the whole storyline for GH and for one I was so happy. He came on as a gangster bad boy who looks could kill.
I must tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting much from Lifetime for lifetime channel has been considered a movie made for television channel. Maurice has me changed my mind 100%. His acting was so spot on, it was not overplayed like other Gotti movies, by the way that failed miserably at the box office. He truly showed the real John Gotti, the father figure, husband and friend to many who loved him. Maurice preformed his character so well that I truly forgot who he was playing a part.

I laughed and cried when Victoria came on to narrate some parts for she too cries every day missing her father. I do too. There is just something about Italian girls and their fathers. We don't see what the world sees we see what we are shown in our daily lives. We see the dinners, the love, the caring feelings and the holidays were never a disappointment. Maurice, I must tell you how wonderful and talented an actor you truly are. I can see how you love playing this role and it shows. Congratulations to you on his phenomenal  role as John Gotti regardless of how others have seen him. The people loved him and show that loved the day he passed. You're performance was outstanding and you truly captured the true spirt of John Gotti.
